New Pools at Ards LC to have Floating Floors

Artists Impression of the new Ards Leisure Centre

We note that the new £30m Ards Leisure Centre will be another new facility to have two pools, both with floating floors.

Again, we ask the question of our local SF Councillors;

Why is the new £25m Andersonstown Leisure Centre to be the only major swimming pool being built at the moment, or in latter years, not to have a modern floating floor design but instead will have the very same old fashioned 100yr old 'Falls Baths' style shallow/deep fixed floor pool concept ......which is the very design that all of these new pools, both in Belfast and beyond, are getting rid of!

There is a sound reason behind provision of all of these modern floating floor designs....they provide programming flexibility and access for everyone, not just swimmers in the deep end and non-swimmers in the shallow end!

Glad to see investment at Atown but the pool design is out of the ark!
