Cathal Brugha’s members really stepped up to the mark for Swim Ireland’s Pound the Pavements Challenge this week.
The challenge encourages swimming and water polo clubs to keep active for 4 weeks by using Strava to map how many kilometres they cycle, walk, run and swim. Players, coaches, committee members and parents have all been battling away to chalk up the kilometres but top of the time leaderboard this week is Eve Burns, aged 13 and a member of Development Squad 3. Eve cycled, swam, walked and ran for 14.5 hours this week, showing that hard work pays off.
Topping the distance leader board was Gary McKee who cycled 277kms, followed closely behind by Daniel Daly – we’ll be cheering on both parents this week in the hope that they can cycle even further.
Special mention to the Turkington family who notched up 162kms and the Ramsey families who walked, ran and swam 78kms.
The challenge has been supported by all ages in the club and has lead to more people doing more exercise more often, so it’s a win win all round.
Well done to all participants and a huge thank you to Lisa for overseeing our challenge and doing some serious co-ordinating!
