Clonard Waterpolo Masters committee very much look forward to rekindling some fantastic friendships on the weekend of the 3rd and 4th September with local rivals Cathal Brugha and Donegall from Belfast, our great friends and runners up from last year North Dublin, and offer a very special welcome to the 2 travelling teams from further afield, Dobhar-chú (London Select) and the reigning champions from the banks of Lake Geneva, Les Crocos Du Léman! Together in a round robin league basis 6 teams we will play some very competitive Polo to help remember and celebrate the life of our valued club colleague and friend Dermot Neary in what is the 8th year of running
The tournament is hosted in the traditional “headquarters” of waterpolo in Belfast on the site of the old Falls baths and all players and friends and spectators are very welcome to come share in the experience that promises to be a great day of sport with many players from yesteryear pulling on their togs for what has become an annual pilgrimage for the over 40’s!
Schedule:
·11.45 registration and buffet food available for players and spectators - upstairs in the Falls Leisure plx
·12.30 first match
·Tournament will run to approx. 18.00 with top 2 in group playing off in final for coveted Dermot Neary memorial shield
·Games each 12 minute all in round robin – each team guaranteed 5 games
·Post-match entertainment in Duke of York that night.
We look forward very much to welcoming you and enjoying the company of some old and new friends in what is always a competitive but friendly atmosphere, and equally enjoy the games and “craic agus ceol go loer”.
