Why does the new pool at Andersonstown need a floating floor?

Why does the new pool at Andersonstown need a floating floor, as opposed to the old fixed shallow ended pool design?

Well here’s one reason…..the young athletes in this video are playing in a 4m deep diving pit at Lisburn where the floating floor has been raised to 1.1m, allowing these young boys and girls the opportunity to have a taste of water polo; many for the very first time!

Earlier, on the morning of filming, ladies water aerobics was taking place in the same pool at a 1.5m water depth, in the evening high board diving was the activity with the floor lowered to its maximum 4m depth and the following morning a parents & toddlers session took place at 0.5m depth, followed by open public swimming at up to 2m depth for rest of the day; representing huge flexibility in a single space!

Therefore, Belfast City Council please bring back the Main Pool floating floor at the fantastic new Andersonstown Leisure Centre and allow everyone access to a truly a flexible water space!

Please offer comments the Council before Tuesdays (14th March) deadline at BCC Consultation

Thank you to everyone who has responded so far! in support of flexible water space at the new Andersonstown Leisure Centre
